One of our favorite shelter saves: Gilbert, a 7-year-old Chihuahua mix who had severe demodex, an undescended testicle, and a mouth full of yucky teeth. Luckily the wonderful people at the Gaines shelter treated him for all of his issues, and months after arriving, we brought him into Second Chance Dog Rescue. He was adopted the next day (today). Picture: Gilbert sharing some love with a Second Chance gal's granddaughter.
Our current mom and pups were on the KUSI news this morning - always fun to visit the newsrooms around town!
Here is Oatie, modeling our homemade cat scratcher. All it takes is about three cardboard boxes, cut into strips, taped end-to-end with packing tape, and rolled up!
Last week we officially adopted the mama dog that we began fostering one year ago. After heart surgery, dental surgery, and spay, she is paying it forward by mothering a litter of abandoned newborn puppies. Sometimes the unexpected can be wonderful!
Here is Bea, holding one of our new foster puppies from the Humane Society. We picked up the Jack Russell-mix mom and her four, one-day-old puppies last week, and we're enjoying every second of having them. What could be better?
This month we helped to coordinate a puppy event during Kindness Week at a local high school. Second Chance Dog Rescue provided puppies on the lawn for the students, to reward them for their acts of kindness, and to remind them that kindness to animals is important too!
